A staged
plan for
preservation

The Archive Trust is a registered charity, dependent entirely on donations and grants. We have no endowment and no institutional backing. Every pound raised goes directly to the work of digitisation, cataloguing and making these recordings available to the world.

We have set a staged funding target of £365,000 to complete the digitisation of the Michael Wright Collection and build the infrastructure for public access. The three stages are designed so that work can begin and progress meaningfully at each funding level.

Stage One
£75,000
Digitisation infrastructure & pilot

Purchase and commission specialist digitisation equipment; establish quality-controlled workflow; digitise the first 1,000 recordings from the Michael Wright Collection; create WAV masters and MP3 access copies; complete initial cataloguing.

Stage Two
£150,000
Full-scale digitisation programme

Complete digitisation of the remaining 7,000+ recordings; professional archival cataloguing to ISAD(G) standard; digital preservation infrastructure to NDSA Levels; cold-storage backup systems; staff costs.

Stage Three
£140,000
Public archive & long-term access

Build and launch the public-facing online archive; streaming audio hosting infrastructure; ongoing server and storage costs; staff and maintenance for five years; Archive Service Accreditation application.

Total fundraising target
£365,000
All donations are gratefully received at any level. The Trust is a registered UK charity (No. 1141862) and donations from UK taxpayers qualify for Gift Aid.
